The ups and downs of a varied working life shape the characters of all those that take part in this process. And it is often the unplanned results in a period, or during a stage or activity, which if properly constrained, offer the greatest benefits to the health, wealth and development of an individual.

David Burt was evacuated from London to Yorkshire at the outbreak of WW2 and his education suffered accordingly. He started work on a building site at fifteen and a half and had a variety of job roles before becoming the CEO of a UK manufacturing company making components for Aerospace and electrical connectors for Formula 1 Race cars. During his career he was County Chairman for the CBI and on the Advisory Council for the BBC, before becoming the Chairman of the Regulatory Council for UK Optical services; he remains Chairman of the Consumer Complaints Service. He is a lifelong sculptor and has exhibited at the RA Summer Exhibition and he also rallies Classic Cars.
