Inspector Handley has seen it all. He's become hardened to the nastier, seedier side of human life, but it has not killed the compassion within him for the decent people caught up in a criminal world they never imagined they would inhabit. Drugs, sex, violence, blackmail and revenge intrude into their lives and threaten to overcome them, with death always near at hand, ready to play its part. In this double volume, Inspector Handley, trying to work within the constraints of the law and yet still appease his masters' financial restraints, eventually finds a way to reach these unfortunate people and helps bring some normality back into their lives. And the evil criminals who were trying to ruin lives for their own gain? Inspector Handley ensures that justice has her say.
Trevor Robbins was born on the 17th of February 1938 in Claremont Road Birmingham. The war years saw his home destroyed, his eldest brother being evacuated to a farm in Wales for over six years, and his mother dying before his sixth birthday, he had no recollection of his childhood years, but learnt to appreciate the little he did have in life.
His father was the managing director of the English Rose Theatrical co. in west Croydon before moving to Birmingham, and inspired him with his writing. Like his father he wrote poetry and children's stories, then later had the urge to write novels, his first that gave him the most pleasure was a trilogy, Unconscious Passion, Seed of Doubt, and Essence of Evil.
