Fecundity! Competition Winners:

Thank you to everyone who entered.

Congratulations to our signed copy winners, Solange Thomas and Clare Gobin. Who were asked how they would feel if they or a man in their life fell pregnant

Congratulations too, to runners up Fran Light, Kayleigh Cassidy, Alison Maclean, Martina Pichova, Andrew Cakebread, Elisabeth Pritchard, Sandra Foreman, Sarah Tilley, Norah Sinclair and Laura Jones.

For those who didn't win, you can buy Fecundity! HERE

The Winning entries are below.

Solange Thomas: I think they would actually do a good job. I think it would become a sport. They would make it competitive and use it as a badge of honour. We would have much more favourable laws, too, regarding maternal health care. It’s a pretty powerful experience to bring life into the world. I think men would value life more if they experienced it.

Clare Gobin: I would nourish my pregnant husband with vitamin-rich morsels, massage his back twice a day while he rested. I would tell him how handsome he was, make love to him in the afternoon, hold him non-stop when he cried. And he would push me away, reaching for the remote control.

Fran Light: I would eat, and eat and eat … well, it’s not possible for a man to get pregnant so I’d have to be dreaming, and if I was dreaming I would be able to eat as much as I liked without getting fat, because dream calories don’t cause weight gain!

Kayleigh Cassidy: I would feel relieved that he fell pregnant and not me. I’m very squeamish and think labour would be horrible, I would be glad to be the one sat on the other side of the bed, telling him to take deep breaths, ‘it’s gunna be okay’.

Alison Maclean: I would be more than a bit surprised but it would be good that he finally understood what it was like to have a baby!

Martina Pichova: If my boyfriend feel pregnant, he wouldn’t cope and I would be the one looking after him. I would probably envy him because I think pregnancy is the time when you start bonding with your child and I would miss out on it.

Andrew Cakebread: Quite shocked and possibly ill. Not sure I would be able to cope with that type of pain!

Elisabeth Pritchard: Wouldn’t it be wonderful for him to understand. I would love for him to feel that roller-coaster of hormones that I have to endure every month. To watch him ache, comfort eat, cry for no reason. It would be nice for him to understand.

Sarah Tilley: I think it would be brilliant as it would mean that I wouldn’t have to go through childbirth myself nor would I have to worry about stretch marks, sore boobs and all the other delights of pregnancy. Bring it on I say!

Norah Sinclair: I would feel astonished, then rather jealous and finally, when I’d has time to think about it a bit more, I’d feel very sorry for him. I’d remember morning sickness and puffy ankles. I’d remember clothes I loved no longer fitting. Mostly I’d remember he’s a granddad!

Laura Jones: I think I would be pleased as it would be interesting for men to experience pregnancy and childbirth but by the same token it would be good for women to experience it from a man’s side, fair’s fair after all. Maybe it’s best after all for women to stick to what they are good at – men probably couldn’t stand the pain!

Don’t forget to visit www.fecundity.uk.net where you can discuss this topic, and many more, and vote on the outcome to the upcoming sequel, Anomalies. Competition closed April 30th.
