Angie Caroline Allanby is young at heart despite being forty. She has two teenage sons and a husband, who are the light of her life and pretty amazing on the whole. They all live in London next to a beautiful green in a charming teeny house. They love to travel, and so currently have three travel pets - Aus, Baguette & Bugsy. Her boys - all three - now want to get a fish and a husky...
This book is like a beautiful flowing river on its journey to the sea. It's prose is lyrical sprinkled with dazzling magic and a celebration of goodness. Sublime description, gentle wit and peppered with quirky enduring characters, like the deliciously named Land and Sea and La Chocolat who you are desperately rooting for.
If you want to be lifted into a breathtaking world; The Adventures of Captain Antonio will guide you there. A glittering start to the Transom Trilogy; I adored it.

From the opening paragraph I was drawn into the spirit of adventure that litters this wonderful book.
Captain Antonio is washed ashore after a violent storm, and is befriended by a large celestial dog whom he names “Max”. Their adventures begin in earnest from there and I found the ideas and creativity within the book to be completely fresh and sui generis.
There is a strong theme of good vs. evil flowing through the book without taking away the elements of frivolity and gaiety.
The book is written with wisdom and insight and ‘loose ends’ are neatly tied up. My favorite characters are “Land” and “Sea” – the moment they walk on the scene, you have your ‘anchors’ of the story, and no doubt they will hold a key role in the rescue of the true Emperor and Empress and help return the kingdom to its original state of bliss!
This book will be enjoyed by both young readers, families who enjoy reading together, as well as an ‘older’ audience who still have the embers of adventure burning in their souls.
A beautifully written book full of adventure and excitement. The story takes you away to strange and wonderful lands and bringing in all sorts of interesting characters that sometimes made me laugh out loud. The author helped your imagination to take over and I loved the way it had a good moral to the storyline.
The book is packed with many twists and turns, so much so I re-read the book soon after I finished it because I wanted to make sure I had taken in all the detail. Would recommend to all.
