The author has grown up on two continents and travelled extensively, as well as always been curious about history, as well as the dynamics of complex or abstract systems including human psychology and large societies, the nature of philosophy, mathematics and what we define as progress.

This is through necessity after living with an inner conflict in his youth where such interests became a way to resolve the vagaries of this period.
