As a writer you are undoubtedly familiar with writer’s block, an affliction that often strikes bloggers in search of ideas for new content.

To help you combat this, we’ve compiled a list of ten ideas for blog posts to get you started. It doesn’t stop here though – the internet is a hive of inspiration and is awash with endless ideas and suggestions for struggling authors.

1) Excerpts from your novel – post a few choice extracts from your book to hook your readers, and entice them to read more. Few readers can resist a cliff-hanger.

2) Interview your characters - imagine your novel is a film, and you are interviewing the main characters. What would you ask them? How would they respond?

3) Tell the story behind your story – how did you come to write your book? What inspired you? Did you come across any challenges along the way?

4) Advice for other writers – as a published author, you are in a great position to share your wisdom with other budding authors.

5) “A Day in the Life” – share your day with your readers – behind the scenes glimpses into other’s lives are always intriguing.

6) Discuss your inspirations – what motivates you to write? Have you been inspired by any particular literary work? Or something else entirely?

7) Hot topics – follow the latest news within the publishing industry and talk about any issues or debates that spark your interest. Discussing trending topics will keep your blog relevant and drive traffic.

8) Host a guest – invite one of your favourite bloggers to pen a guest post. Often, they’ll return the favour, exposing your blog to a new audience.

9) Review other books – writing about other books within your genre is a good way to target your own niche and draw in readers. It also prevents your blog from appearing too ego-centric.

10) Share imagery – post photographs of your favourite libraries, bookshops or reading nooks. Pinterest is a good resource for this, and you could even photograph your own. Keep your blog visual!
