The author is a friend of mine and I purchased this book to support her - I didn’t have any idea how much I would enjoy it myself!! Although aimed at 6-9-year-olds, it made this 61-year-old laugh out loud with tears running down my cheeks. The characters are beautifully described and completely believable, and I am sure the occasional references to ‘ rude things’ will entertain children greatly. The story is well constructed and draws you in to want to keep reading. There are lots of gentle learning points included and I can imagine adults taking the opportunities presented to reinforce these. It is very much a book for sharing. I have now passed the book on to an 8-year-old better-qualified critic - I hope he loves it as much as I do.
