Brenda D. Burns-Owens

In 1975 Brenda D. Burns-Owens earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas. In 1976, she married. During that short-lived marriage came a son, James L. Hanson Junior. Brenda has worked in three preschool settings over an 18 -year period, with 15 of those years given to the Head Start preschool program. It is during those years she developed an interest in reading and becoming familiar with young children’s books. Brenda went on to work for the California Department of Corrections as a correctional officer, retiring after 18 years of service. For 35 years she has lived a quiet life with her husband John Owens, who has been an inspiration in her understanding of farm life as she writes her stories.

Wendell Wiggins is a Los Angeles-based visual artist. Born and raised in Washington, DC., Wendell received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art in Ohio, where he studied Illustration, Graphic Arts & Photography. In California, he began his career as a Conceptual Storyboard Artist for the visual effects industry in Hollywood, creating and directing computer graphics for a wide variety of television and film studios where he produced numerous high-profile motion graphics titles for film clients such as Paramount, Universal, NBC, ABC, and Fox Studios. These experiences connected him with advertising agencies, publishers and record companies seeking his skills for movie posters, CD/Album cover art, stage and theatrical set design. In addition, his fine art paintings and photography have been exhibited in art galleries and several museums throughout the U.S. and as well as abroad. Currently, his company Wiggins Art Design in West Los Angeles creates commissioned and commercial art projects for a wide variety of clients. He has recently been a featured artist with the LA Lakers “In the Paint’ exhibitions and an exhibitor at the Central Avenue Jazz Festival Arts Pavilion for many years.
