The
criteria for evaluating your book include the quality of the content, the writing style
and the extent of the commercial potential. Assuming they wish to go ahead, our team
would then make the decision to offer either a standard contract or a partnership
contract. Even if your submission is rejected on this occasion, please do not give up
hope! If you resubmit a revised manuscript, you may be offered a publishing contract. If
you are offered a partnership contract, you will be required to make an investment to
cover a portion of the cost towards professionally publishing your title. The portion of
cost is discussed and mutually agreed at the contracts stage with our editorial team.

Once you choose to go ahead with publication, our production team will
start by sending
you a questionnaire to find out more about you and your book. The production stage
requires time to develop your book to a standard ready for publishing, and your patience
will be appreciated! Your manuscript is proofread, typeset and illustrated (where
applicable) and the cover is designed. Depending on your contract, AMP may also
substantially revise your manuscript. The finishing touch is the back cover text
(‘blurb’), often a collaboration between the author and the publisher. As part of the
curation and management of the book’s metadata, your book is given an ISBN, which makes
it accessible to our distributors and stores internationally across paperback, hardback
and eBook formats.

The marketing process
begins prior to a book’s publication. The marketing team assesses the level of promotion
and publicity that can be undertaken on the book individually. For new authors, the
marketing team usually devise a local strategy to produce awareness of you as an author
and your book. A strategy tailored to the title includes targeted pitches for promotion
in the media, in-store stockings, events and reviews. We believe a collaborative
approach is essential in marketing: this is why our teams can advise you of ways you can
leverage your brand as an author to self-promote.

Austin Macauley has a wide reach through international distribution,
which provides
readers with a rewarding experience in discovering, purchasing, and receiving an Austin
Macauley-published book anywhere globally. With distribution channels through print,
digital and audio, our books can be delivered directly to consumers and suitable book
outlets. Although we cannot guarantee that copies of your book will appear in
traditional brick-and-mortar shops, our in-house team, working with distribution giants
Ingram, Findaway, Overdrive, Inscribe and Gardners, collaborate closely through
relations and industry knowledge to build on appropriate outlet
opportunities.

Royalties are earned from book
sales and are paid to authors in line with the royalty period defined within their
particular contract. Most authors will receive a detailed statement nine months after
your publication date for the first six months of sales. After this, they will receive a
statement every six months. Authors can receive up to 60% combined on net receipts of
book and eBook sales.

If we choose to license the subsidiary rights to your title, our rights
department will
work on your behalf to represent and sell those rights to other publishers. We mainly
work with translation, quotation, anthology and reprint rights to negotiate preferential
terms to sell your title to rights agents and publishers in multiple countries. We have
successfully had a selection of our books translated into multiple languages such as
Chinese, Danish, French, Estonian, Italian, Japanese and Greek.
