Drumbrae Library Invites Author John Hole for an Event

The book reading event is happening at Drumbrae Library on Thursday 21st November 2019. John Hole, the author of Will Shaksper’s Secret will be reading some excerpts from his book which is a general fiction that will be loved by all the avid book readers. Do come along with your family and have a chance of listening to your favourite author.  Will Shaksper’s Secret takes its readers through the grimy street, dusty attics and theatrical situations surrounding and explaining Shakespeare’s connection with truth. Highly recognizable characters and original celebrated publishers of Shakespeare’s work is what makes this novel stand out in general fiction. The truth about the mysterious death of Christopher Marlowe gives the story a marvellous ending.  Grab a copy of this fascinating novel. Belonging to the entertainment and theatre industry all his life, author John Hole knows the nitty-gritty of this business. He has studied theatre management at the Mermaid Theatre in the City of London. In 1967, he got appointed as Theatre Director and later in 1974, he opened his own Queens Theatre. His agency Crowd Pullers promoted and marketed extremely talented street performers for 21 years. He has published four books to date.

Author of The Glass Bulldog, Alison Huntingford, to Attend the Blandford Literary Festival

The author of The Glass Bulldog, Alison Huntingford, will be attending the Blandford Literary Festival on Wednesday, 20th November. This event will begin at 1 pm and end at 4 pm. During this time, there will be an opportunity to meet a range of local authors, hear excerpts from their books, and ask them about their inspiration! Huntingford’s book follows the life of a man named Tom Finnimore. During his life, Tom struggles with the criminal justice system, poverty, love and more. Eventually, Tom settles down and starts a family. On the verge of retirement; the couple realises that Tom’s past could still ruin their daughter’s happiness and prevent her from marrying the man she loves. Can Tom find peace and redemption at last? Having grown up in Devon, Alison Huntingford has always had a strong affinity to the county, despite being born elsewhere. One of her favourite pastimes is genealogy and she was therefore delighted to find an ancestor who came from Exeter in Devon. His story inspired her recent novel, The Glass Bulldog.

Rose Miller to Read Her Children's Book, Alex and His Magic Dragon, at Stalybridge Library

Rose is a children’s author from Stalybridge, Greater Manchester. She will be reading an excerpt from her recently published book, Alex and his Magic Dragon. This event will be taking place on Saturday 16th November, at 11am – 12pm and again at 1pm – 2pm. This story follows a boy named Alex, who loves going to school and playing football. There are also things that he doesn’t like doing, such as going to bed at 9pm and listening to his sister play the flute. Alex seeks help in the form of a magic dragon egg cup called Flicker. This collection of stories follows the adventures of Alex and his magical dragon, who can bring fun and magic at just the flick of his tail! The author of this magical book, Rose Miller, is rich with life-experience. She has two married sons and two grandchildren. She worked abroad for many years in Malta, Libya and Saudi Arabia, and taught English to young Arabic children during her time there.

Joan Shirley-Davis to Attend Author Talk for Her Book Alyona’s Voice at Oswestry Library

Joan Shirley-Davis will be attending an author talk at the Oswestry Library, in the heart of Shropshire. This event will take place on Wednesday the 11th December from 1pm to 2pm. During the event, Joan will talk about her incredible true story that inspired her to write her second book; Alyona’s Voice. Alyona’s Voice is the second book in the trilogy following Money is Easy. Alyona’s Voice tells the story of a woman named Claudia, and follows the feud that she has with her mother. This feud ultimately leads Claudia to plunge headlong into another personal crisis when she meets Fraser Gallier. Claudia wants nothing more than her normal, orderly life back together but this is impossible, as old heartaches return and new and painful challenges must be met. Joan Shirley-Davies lives in Shropshire with her actor husband. She always wanted to be a writer and an actress, as she loves to entertain and communicate with people. Although Joan loved acting, she hated the life, so she wrote plays instead. Her trilogy of books marks her transition from playwright to novelist.
