Rana Amiri
The Landless Girls was written by twelve educated Afghan women now living across the world from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan to the UK, Germany, Australia, Finland and Canada. They hold degrees in Nursing, Physics, Management, Environmental Health Engineering, Chemistry, Law, Accounting, Teacher Training, Medicine and Persian Literature.
Today, these women work in a wide range of distinguished professions across the globe. They are School principals in Pakistan and Iran (Fatemeh Masoumi; Fatemeh Sajjadi); a Health researcher and immigrant advocate in Germany (Ommolbanin Mirzaie); a Senior lecturer in the United Kingdom (Rana Amiri); a PhD candidate in Finland (Rubaba Mohammadi); a Nursery teacher in Australia (Zahra Halimi); a Medical physicist in the United Kingdom (Shakardokht Jafari); an Otolaryngologist working between Afghanistan and Iran (Sharifeh Haghjoo); a Nurse in Canada (Zahra T.); a Teacher in Canada (Rugiyah Masoumi); and a Case manager supporting refugees in Australia (Zainab Sajjadi).
Together, they have challenged gender inequality and navigated the trials of migration, transforming every obstacle into an opportunity for growth. Their stories reflect the courage and resilience of Afghan women who persist in their pursuit of knowledge, dignity, and belonging.
