Parent of three and grandfather of four, semi-retired youth worker, Fergal—from Derry, Northern Ireland—describes himself as a now and again facilitator and trainer, former landlord, sometimes-suffering Liverpool supporter, committed tea drinker, avid book reader, humour advocate, music lover, and an occasional author.
He single-handedly fought a test case and changed employment law in Northern Ireland in 2001. He has been known to host charity fun quizzes and on most Halloweens in his native Derry dons his costume, and is often confused with British comedian Harry Hill.
