Ian Bignell

Ian Bignell was born in London. He moved to New York after leaving school and worked at an advertising agency as a trainee copywriter. After a short period in Canada, he returned to London and took up playwriting. Ian had a varied work life, including starting up a small brewery in Lancashire.

On retiring, Ian started writing again, always in longhand using his battered ‘space pen’. He was an avid reader, interested in many subjects, including history, music, films, politics and football. He would have been delighted to see the Eagles on a long-awaited winning streak in 2025, several months after his passing. Ian leaves behind a wife, two sons, and six grandchildren.
