Trevor Doherty

Trevor Doherty is an accredited leadership coach and coach mentor whose work sits at the intersection of business excellence and human development. His approach is shaped by more than two decades of experience as a lean continuous improvement practitioner and people manager across global, highly regulated, and performance-driven organisations—evolving into a coaching-led approach to leadership. It was here that Trevor learned a pivotal lesson: focusing on process alone can only take you so far.

It was his transition into people leadership that fundamentally shifted his thinking. Faced with the lived realities of leading others, Trevor came to understand that sustainable performance is not created through tighter controls or better tools, but through enabling and empowering people to think, learn, and solve problems for themselves. This realisation sparked a deep curiosity about human behaviour, growth, and learning, ultimately leading him into professional coaching and mentoring.

Today, Trevor integrates continuous improvement, senior people leadership, and professional coaching to support growth-minded leaders who want to deliver meaningful business outcomes while developing their people in a way that is human, respectful, and sustainable. A lifelong learner, he continues to deepen his practice through coaching, supervision, mentoring coaches, participating in conferences and learning communities, and working closely with organisations that navigate complexity and change.

Authenticity sits at the heart of Trevor’s work. He believes leadership is not about having the answers but about creating the conditions where others can discover them for themselves.

This book reflects that commitment: an invitation for people managers to reimagine how they lead, the legacy they create, and who their people become along the way.
