The author was born into a dock-side family in Bootle near Liverpool England in 1944 being the third child of parents of little education. From a nearby school he won a scholarship to a grammar school in the affluent suburbs going from there to a university and later becoming a barrister. Being now elderly and in retirement, he finds within him the soul of a poet for which he thanks God and the Christian Brother of Ireland who first of all led him to seek the mind of a scholar.
