Ordelle G. Hill was born in 1935, during the Great Depression and between the two world wars. After earning college degrees from Augustana University, Auburn University, and the University of Illinois (Ph.D.), he went on to a career of teaching college English for 38 years, during which time he published three books: (1) The Manor, the Plowman, and the Shepherd, (2) Looking Westward, and (3) Tales of a Norwegian-American Family. He has also published several articles, mostly on medieval topics. He now lives in retirement with his wife Helen Bennett, also a retired English professor.
