Lesley Chamberlain is the author of many books on literature and philosophy. Her work on Russia, particularly her book, The Philosophy Steamer Lenin and the Exile of the Intelligentsia, has been highly acclaimed. Over half a century of writing and travelling, she has approached Russia through food, philosophy, music, literature and history. She has travelled the length of the river Volga to try to understand that mysterious and perplexing country.
