Yaki Ocean was born in Namibia, by refugee parents from Angola who fled from the civil war. He was born in a town called Ondangwa. His mother was a housewife, and his father was a businessman. He went to school in Namibia until the 12th grade. In 2004, he migrated to Germany to pursue his music dream and continues to live there.
