James Rees
James Rees spent many years traveling and working in the exploration industry. During his time in remote regions, he developed a love for reading—particularly military and spy novels. His work took him to countries such as Libya (once during the Gaddafi overthrow and later amid the rebel-led collapse of the government), Saudi Arabia, Mozambique and Gabon, placing him in some truly remarkable and intense situations.
These experiences inspired James to begin writing short stories based on the places he visited, the cultures he encountered, and the people he met. He found working in the deep desert particularly fascinating—where, aside from his colleagues, it was the local Bedouin communities who captivated him most. Their resilience and daily way of life left a lasting impression, fuelling his passion for storytelling.
