Sarah had bought herself a pub – by herself.

Miles from family and friends Sarah was about to learn what hard work really was, the building had seen better days and she was going to run the business by herself – a bit different to a small takeaway shop in a local suburb of Melbourne. What was she thinking?

Sarah was to find out how this small community pulled together and supported each other through good and bad.

And how the love of a dog and one very infuriating man would change her world.

Sue was born and raised in Melbourne Victoria moving to the country for a tree change some 35 years ago.

Her working life was in welfare in the disability and youth sectors.

Sue’s interests revolve around family and friends, now retired Sue has trained with her four-year-old Border Collie as therapy visitors for residents in the local Aged Care sector.

Writing came later in Sue’s life first a short story winning a local competition and then this novel as a first publication.

Just devoured this short story in one afternoon. A fast, sometimes amusing read that the romantic at heart will love. The reader can sense the kindness of this first-time author, in the way she writes about her characters, especially Rusty the dog!

Loved the story, a really feel good book, once I started it I couldn't put it down.

A fantastic, easy-to-follow but enthralling storyline! This storyline captures the readers' hearts and leaves them wanting more... so many well-written references to the hot dusty town of Coober Pedy, made me feel like I was also caught up in the blistering sun, heat and flies. I will be eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Sarah and Rusty's life, keen to know what adventures await them.

I loved the book. It didn’t get bogged down in tedious detail just kept up the pace leaving the reader wanting more. When is the sequel coming ?

  • Angela Syer

A pleasure to Read. Nice easy summer reading.
This is a story about the choices we make in life, friendship, and most of all, love.
Sarah is a character you find yourself cheering on. A story about embracing life, even when it threatens to overwhelm you.
A colorful, engaging story of escaping from the city and a past romance... a new start, a new job, and an outback pub to manage. Country life to get to understand and locals to learn to know and to have to rely on more than Sarah realizes.

What happens to them next? Will we find out soon?
