A Walk with the Rainbow Family

A Walk with the Rainbow Family is a children’s book from New Zealand. The story is centred around a family of Kiwi birds, Mum, Dad and eight chicks. Each chick represents a colour of the rainbow. It is a story encouraging individuality and self-discovery, with ‘Roxy’ the red Kiwi bird trying to find his identity by interacting with his family members while on a walk through imaginative landscape based on New Zealand characteristics.

As a teen ager, Barry de Vaney started out as a self-taught cartoonist and progressed to computer generated imagery and story writing.

He prefers writing stories for children to encourage their imagination and creativity.

He grew up and still lives in New Zealand and draws his inspiration from the flora and fauna of his home country.
