During the renovation of a decrepit old barn by several friends, the chance finding of various old manuscripts lodged between some wall cavities reveals clues to a mystery that goes back over four and a half centuries to the time of Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I and Lady Jane Grey, who is often referred to as the Nine Day Queen. Told from several viewpoints, the startling story of Lady Jane Grey finally comes to light as the previously unknown last moments of her life involving mystery, intrigue, politics and love, come to an explosive ending that may even force a revision of the history books.

This is the first novel from David Black who writes under his late mother's maiden name. David hails from the Isle of Wight and has a simple philosophy to life:; doubt everything, find your own light.

He says; ‘The idea for this book has been circulating around my head for the past ten years; I started writing it eight years ago.

‘The story of Lady Jane Grey has fascinated many since her death and exemplifies the complexity brutality of the Tudor reign and others before and after it; with religious persuasion and a lust for power being the overriding reason for the rise, fall and often death of many.

‘There are many aspects of the accounts of Jane's life which do not make sense but the one that set me off on this path wasis the fact that nowhere is there a verified painting, from the time, of Lady Jane Grey; that seemed odd to me for a former queen of England; albeit for only nine days.'
