Elodie Taylor has a lot to be thankful for. She has great friends, a hardworking boyfriend, and a job she enjoys… but sometimes she wonders whether that’s enough. She’s always had a thirst for adventure that, no matter how hard she tries, just won’t go away.

With the help of her two best friends, and a chance encounter with a handsome stranger, Elodie embarks on a journey that could change her life and satiate her longing for escape.

But all is not smooth sailing in Elodie’s shiny new world, and a betrayal means that she soon finds herself tangled in a dark web of deceit and desire, a web that could see her relationships pushed to breaking point.

Elodie is torn and must make some difficult decisions – decisions that could have high costs, and not only for her.

Chasing Clouds by Annabelle Knight is the adult version of chick-lit. After pushing through the first few chapters, I was hooked until the end of the book.

The first few chapters were as boring as the protagonist, Elodie Taylor’s life. The story was very relatable. Despite many turns of good luck in her life, her life on the surface is one, anyone could have.

Elodie had many men in her life in the duration of the book. The flow of the story was such that I can almost categorize the book as women’s literature. Her friendships, jobs and relationship and her thought process regarding each were what the book was all about. I think that seeing Elodie passion for travel made me fall in love with travel myself.

I loved the friendship trio of Elodie, Carla and Steph. Carla and Steph always stood up for Elodie and sometimes even stood up to her for her good. I would want to have friends like them for myself.

Tom was the man that reminded me of the orthodox thinking that stifles women to a specific role and then blames them for it. He was everything that is too common in my country. But Tom can evolve as an individual can and though I don’t know his story, I hope that his character evolves.

I liked the intro to Chase and Aaron. How I wish to rant about them but that would give away too many spoilers. I would just like to emphasize that this book needs to be read.

You will curse Elodie for all she does but will have to accept, that it is all life where one makes mistakes all the time but should have the strength to move past them and do what you wish in life. The book enthralled me to a great extent. I can’t wait to read another book by the author.
