Book Description

Cinema 46 is a collection of short stories with different themes, all of interest to current readers, as they address universal issues. Paul Costa Gavin, the author of this book, has a Brazilian and North American cultural background, but the different focuses of his stories cannot be restricted to a single country or community. PC Gavin does not exempt any religion, political party, ideology, or philosophical prejudice from his critical approaches, which are personal, and never express other people’s ideas. In addition to harshly criticizing the decadence of current culture, Paul Costa Gavin addresses in depth the problem of the meaning of human life, and this appears in all the stories in this book. The relationship between feeling and thought, the deep analysis of what it means to be human, and the always relevant question of the destiny of humanity permeate this entire book of short stories entitled Cinema 46.

Paul Costa Gavin is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He writes in English and Portuguese with the same accuracy. His biggest dream as a professional writer has always been to become known in English-speaking countries. Besides being a writer, he is a photographer, karate teacher, and university professor. Paul Costa Gavin has a master’s degree in Brazilian Literature (University of the State of Rio de Janeiro – UERJ) and a doctorate in Comparative Literature (UERJ). His subjects are multiple and inexhaustible. He writes short stories, poems, novels, and plays. The author never repeats a theme in any of them.

Cinema 46 is the best book of short stories I’ve read. Each story has a different theme. It’s amazing the diverse ideas the author can create, all of interest to the modern reader.

  • John Freeman

Cinema 46 exploits themes of paramount interest to humanity. These themes have stirred the human spirit for thousands of years, such as why mankind was created, the relationship between thought and feeling, what is self-knowledge, the pursuit of wisdom, truth and lie, and so forth. It is impossible not to agree with the author, Paul Costa Gavin, when he asserts that we live in a decadent culture. JOHN FREEMAN, OHIO, USA.

  • James Williams Jones

The author of Cinema 46, Paul Costa Gavin, has a stream of ideas in his mind Each short story in this book is totally original in plot and theme. Good contribution of Austin Macauley to the world’s culture.
