A cook book to inspire a healthy way of living that comes from the body and intuition, not just from the mind. Conscious Cookery is a wonderful holistic fusion of nutritional awareness, wild foods, home-grown harvests, organic unprocessed foods, macrobiotics, the philosophy of the five elements and a love of connecting fully to each and every season. By allowing the energy of the seasons and an awareness of the ingredients nature provides, we can be inspired with a new approach to cooking and eating that can support our holistic health. When we eat something, it has a nutritional and energetic impact; this book supports an understanding of both these aspects, which ultimately allows for a better flow in our individual lives, and a strength and vitality to be who we truly are.The eclectic plant based recipes are great for vegans and vegetarians to ensure a tasty and nutritious diet. All recipes are dairy and refined sugar free, with the addition of many gluten free ideas and inspirations.

Suzanne is the owner and manager of Sunny Brow Holistic Retreat and mother to three spirited young children. Her gift in life has been the vision and dedication to create a centre where people can come and stay on retreat, individually or as a group, to be nourished on a deep level, with whole foods, treatments and yoga, to learn and be inspired by a life closer to nature, body and soul.

She has always had a passion for healthy eating and holistic living, researching and reading avidly in this area, and her interest and purpose has been to understand what is best for the body and how to apply this. Making steps to heal on a nutritional and physical level also led her to healing on an emotional and spiritual level, and her practice and daily life now incorporate many elements to aid this journey. She does not only teach from study courses and theory, but works hard to live and breathe her beliefs.

Her degree in psychology, and enthusiasm for what makes us tick, was continued on a life changing course with the International Macrobiotic School, where she began learning holistic counselling, and healing using emotional patterns with the five elements. From this work, she has built her own practise and business offering macrobiotic consultations and cooking classes to assist in diet, emotional well-being and lifestyle.

In addition, she is a yoga teacher, trained since 2003, a Reiki Master, healing massage and crystals practitioner, a shamanic practitioner, and is also currently training in the All Nations sweat lodge. With an eclectic mix of healing practices, her life has become richer and fuller, with more understanding and happiness, and less health and emotional turbulence. She is now dedicated to continuing this journey for herself, her family and to also share this with the guests coming to stay at Sunny Brow.
