Book Description

None was born hated by the regime, family and biological parents. His father, Ronie, hid himself; his mother, Rita Wessels, decided to abandon him after birth. The only place Ronie could think of to hide was Matiking (a dumping place.) Rita’s parents passed on and left her with part of their wealth, which she wanted to grow.

At Matiking, None was saved by flies and looked after by Ronie, not knowing that it is his biological son. None grew up at the dumping place, got educated and became an attorney.

Not knowing it is her son, Rita used None as her lawyer for two things: she used him not only to build the Wessels legacy but also to be the architect of the Wessels financial institution empire. She used him not to bury her enemies but to put them in her dungeon.

In the attorneys’ field, none saved a lot of people, poor and rich. He never took sides. From Africa he went to Brazil for serious cases sent by Rita. He never went to Brazil for pleasure or to compromise his principles or dignity. Because of his stance, Rita poisoned him from hatred and the curse he was born with.

None met the first lady in Brazil, only to find that they share the same mother, both poisoned by the same mother, Rita. Through None, Rita became rich, but the Wessels legacy collapsed as she was ageing and her children were fighting their lives through poison.

Sitting lonely on top of the beautiful blue and mist-covered peak of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, admiring the view, Ncwati looked down the mountain and saw students at the boarding school; some were singing, some were talking.

A voice came from nowhere: “If you cannot sing or talk, then write.”

“What must I write?” he asked, and no one answered as mist was approaching from the mountain peak called Mont-aux-Sources.

Going back to school, his journey of writing began and continued through the years, yielding four broadcast stories through the national radio and four books in an African language, winning literary awards twice in 1996 and 1997.
