To tell a story is to be a story. The power in words is the interpretation and how each word forms the layer, the framework that spins the narrative we call life.
This is the tale of a man who sought adventure and found a darkness so deep it killed him twice. Yet he never lost hope, even though he lost himself on the road to finding his destiny.
This is a story about addiction and the insane impact it has on the individual soul that is, at its core, human. But it’s also a story of awareness, awakening and finding an inner belief in a faithless world.
It’s dark, raw and deals with the isolation of a man in his midlife, when the world decided he was no longer valid. He’s gay, divorced, a cancer survivor and an addict; life kicks us really hard sometimes. He walks with death and has for as long as he can remember. Add to this spiritual transcendence, angelic, demonic, alien and other interesting personas that haunt his mind. It pulls in a lot of sci-fi and geek-related tones which pepper life like little moments that always shine brighter in times when our ageing years seem repetitive and relentless.
Ultimately, it’s a fictional story of hope for the hopeless, and in writing this story, I saved my own life.
