Book Description

In a world of fantastic beasts and endless fascination, wandering forager Khulani values his freedom above all else. When a chance find provides him with an extraordinary yet controversial skill, it’s only a matter of time before his new career in potion-making takes off and his true destiny reveals itself.

Join Khulani on his journey out of self-isolation, through the joys of languages, music, food and friendships, and across seas to exotic lands, to find out how he’ll breathe meaning back into life after accomplishing considerably more than he’d ever dreamed of.

Grab your magic carpet; adventure awaits! As does a rather angry hippogryph…

B Philippe is a mushroom-foraging, biscuit-baking pacifist, who lives in the shadows of the Welsh valleys. She pulls inspiration from the magic found in everyday life and is easily distracted by anything that sparkles. She enjoys eating bubblegum-flavoured sweets (especially if they’re blue), picking up rocks and writing poetry for her husband. Diamond Spice is her debut novel.

It’s been my pleasure to read the charming and exhilarating novel “Diamond Spice” by B Phillipe. She’s conjured an entire world, akin to The Hobbit’s Shire, where magic is possible, flying carpets are transport, and hippogryphs drop in. Her hero’s journey is rife with doubt, but he stays true to his mission of alleviating the ills and illnesses of those he encounters. Sleight of hand and remedy, he perseveres from his home to a distant land and becomes the most vaunted practitioner of potions. I loved all the details of this luminous world, from the joyous celebrations to the humdrum of housekeeping to the procurement of pepperoni pizza. Ever time for a nice nosh here. Wampus cats, a gorgeous lizard, and a venture into a fully articulated realm await. Don’t miss it!
