Acres of fields, a cool pond to swim in and quench your thirst and adventurous friends provide the ideal setting for seven canines looking for fun and excitement. Buddy and Pearl have fled from their cruel owners and meet up by chance. They have been fending for themselves and a bond forms between them. In their search for a regular supply of food, they become friends with five other dogs who all live in the lap of luxury.

Despite their different lifestyles, the seven friends become inseparable and look out for each other through thick and thin. Eventually, Buddy and Pearl are welcomed into Bailee’s wonderful home, but the good times are saddened by two unexpected events.

Kathy Gallimore was born in England and lived in Westerham, Kent, till she moved to New Zealand as a young girl. Kathy still has strong links with family and friends in England and returns to her country of birth every two years.

Kathy’s life-long love of animals has prompted her to write Doggie Tales, in memory of the dogs, cats and horses who have played an important role in her life. Kathy has been a volunteer for the RSPCA in Auckland, New Zealand, and a member of ‘Outreach’, a programme run by St Johns and the RSPCA which promotes animal visits to hospitals, rest homes and hospices.

This is a delightful book; innocent and evocative. The author's words conjure up visions and feelings using easy to read language without pretentiousness. A beautiful story to read to little ones, or for youngsters to read themselves. Would love to see more from this writer.
