Book Description
A glamorous blonde woman is killed in a hit and run incident on Wickham Terrace, Brisbane. She is a peace activist and a former participant at a Headcases wellness retreat.
In this third book in the Garfield series, Detective Senior Sergeant Ward of the Brisbane CIB is faced with a complicated investigation to uncover first who the intended victim was and then to identify and apprehend the killer.
There are numerous suspects in respect of the possible intended victims. Also, a shady extreme right-wing organisation has been making threats against the victim and other peace activists. Were the killer’s motives personal or political?
DSS Ward’s investigation is plagued by lies and deception. Nothing is as it seems as violence escalates resulting in further injury and death.
Garfield is again at the centre of the action as he tries to cover up another affair and the fact that he has been intimate with both possible intended victims.
Eventually the truth emerges, and it appears that Garfield and the other possible intended victim remain at risk.
There is a dramatic conclusion at a townhouse in Dobson Street, Ascot.
Finally, Garfield must decide where his loyalties lie and what he might be prepared to forgive.
