Eric, the royal eagle chick, is born high up in the mountains of south-western France. Like his very regal parents, he too is destined for days of soaring high over the mountains in a constant search for food for himself and his future family. There’s just one big problem. Eric is scared stiff of heights.

Tim Broadbent fell out of his nest in Brighton and moved permanently to France in 1982. A much-traveled professional musician and songwriter, his multi-faceted professional life has also included being a restaurant critic, chef-proprietor of his own restaurant in France, translator, provençal market stallholder and undertaker. Whilst continuing with his musical activities, he now devotes much of his time to writing songs, theatre pieces, poetry and short stories in French and English, aimed at the young and young-at-heart.

What a great story! My kids loved poor Eric's adventure and so did I. The writing is captivating and funny and the idea original with illustrations to suit. More from this author please!

  • Véronique AGNES

    A really "unputdownable" story !
Great to follow Eric's ups and downs through this vivid text.

  • Chas Duckhouse

Eric’s exploits are well told. There is plenty of drama, humour and emotional observation as Eric deals, not only with his fundamental problem, but also with his own expectations and those of his loved ones and the world in general.

The tension builds up nicely, the action is vividly described and the narrator’s wry wit will appeal to the intended audience and to any adult who chooses to read it aloud.

    More, please.
