Melissa has enjoyed many adventures with her nephews, nieces, and friends' children, and decided to bring some of these adventures to life by capturing them in her stories. One of her nephews, Nathan, has cerebral palsy and she is therefore keen for children to learn the value of friendship, camaraderie and inclusivity no matter what differences we all have, and hopes to encourage this through her writing. Melissa has seen the value this interaction can have firsthand, as it has shown through the loving, kind and caring nature both Matthew and Ellie have towards their cousin Nathan, and has made them into more well-rounded and understanding children as a result.
