Book Description

Johnny, the Awesome Inventor is his title. His family, his friends, his teachers and his neighbours are in awe of his creations. One day, Johnny surprises everyone with his newest invention, his amazing Wonder Soap, a miracle soap that will heal all their injuries without any pain, prickle or pinch. But the road to stardom is a difficult one. When Johnny takes his Wonder Soap to school to show his friends and the boys and girls who ‘obviously need it,’ the unexpected occurs. Will Johnny be able to get himself out of this tricky, sticky, soapy and slippery situation and still be the hero, master builder of all time?

Join Johnny on his hilarious and tumultuous journey of imagination, creation and recognition.

Nina De Goederen is the author of the children’s book, Johnny, the Inventor and the Garbage-Gobbler, her debut children’s book and the first of her upcoming Johnny, the Inventor series. Since her childhood, Nina was drawn to reading and loved the way her books made her feel. She now writes to enhance that same special spark of creativity, independence and personal growth in children and to help them feel confident, strong and special about who they are. Her quirky and humorous stories aim to capture the hearts and smiles of young children. Nina’s life journey has many facets: Wife. Mum. Gardener. Cook. Dog lover. Book lover. Teacher. Writer. Author. She is a retired secondary school teacher of English for 39 years and throughout her teaching career has inspired students to become avid readers and confident writers with creative minds of their own. She is a member of various writing communities, including Writers Victoria, the Australian Society of Authors and the Children’s Book Council of Australia. She is also a multiple graduate from the Australian Writers’ Centre Victoria. Nina lives in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, with her family and her fluffy, sometimes cheeky but always loving, fur baby, Husky, Ace.
