Do you believe in reincarnation? Maybe you will after reading this tale.

KIRNA links the modern with the ancient in a tale of mystery, kinship, love, betrayal and vengeance.

The story connects two time periods and two key players – Sam and Prince Suryaveer; read on to discover the many adventures they experience.

Sukhraj Singh was born in June 1982 in Malout, a city in Muktsar district in the Indian state of Punjab.

Sukhraj’s parents were relatively well-off school teachers, raising a family of four children. Sukhraj was the youngest of the four, enjoying a very happy and somewhat pampered childhood with his brother and two sisters. Life was good until his late teens.

Sadly, his life changed at eighteen when firstly his father died of a heart attack and only twelve months later his mother died, losing her battle with cancer.

As a result, Sukhraj’s twenties in India were a fairly turbulent event and he decided to travel to Australia in the hope of a better future.

His move to Australia was not as easy as he’d hoped, and with English as his second language he initially found it difficult to find work. His move to Sydney brought many new struggles but gradually he managed to secure basic jobs, such as dish washing, and he managed to start to save.

Over the time, he managed to save enough to undertake a security course and succeeded in obtaining a job as a security officer. Two years later, Sukhraj moved from Sydney to Canberra. Here, he secured work with Costco and in July 2011 commenced working there.

In 2013, Sukhraj returned to India to marry. The couple had a son but unfortunately the marriage didn’t work and after his divorce Sukhraj returned alone to Canberra.

Sukhraj then took back control of his life and started to bring it back on track.

Sukhraj has always enjoyed writing and as part of his healing process, he now focused on writing poetry in Punjabi language.

Thanks to the encouragement of friends and family, Sukhraj successfully published his first book of poetry in India. As well as writing and working at Costco, Sukhraj began working with the Australia/Punjab community, becoming a radio host on FM 91.1 Mehak Punjabi Radio.

With poems and stories filling his head, he decided to write more. With further encouragement by his friends, he decided to write his fictional story in English.

He made the decision to write in English rather than Punjabi as he considers Australia to be his home. He wanted to introduce his stories to a broader audience in the language of his new home.

Sukhraj enjoys writing, has a head full of new adventures and hopes that you will enjoy reading his first novel.
