“As a qualified psychotherapist, coupled with resilience developed through lived experience, I have read many complicated academic books and felt there was a need to write a simple one accessible to all and easy to understand and apply in practice. My book is like giving a stranger the holy grail of knowledge to enable them to change their thinking and improve the quality of their life today. Most importantly, for people to not make the same mistakes I made, which have consequences and impacts on leading a fulfilling and successful life. I also wanted to write a book that, as well as being easy to read, quickly and at any time, when life becomes difficult, can be used as a pocket-reference book and effective mental toolbox. Live Your Life like You Have Lived It Before is a book about being given the information and knowledge amazingly and powerfully right now before you start your life so you don’t make the same mistakes made by countless people all over the world.

“By exploring our world as we grow up, we learn by our mistakes, some which are vital and have consequences that affect the rest of our lives. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have lived your life like you have lived it before? This book is a practical guide on how to become successful and not make those errors and fall into the trap everyone else does, which ultimately results in failure and unhappiness.”

Born on Tuesday, August 1st, 1967, at midnight at Middlesex Hospital, Malcolm David Bateup, previously Trower, Leo the Lion birth sign, has had considerable challenges in his life which have made him into the man, father and husband he is today. During school, he experienced serious bullying, family break-up, divorce and, later, various career setbacks, loss and bereavements, which has tested his resilience and resolve. A former engineer, he completely changed direction of his career during the recession in the 1980s; he undertook voluntary work with people with learning difficulties and mental health problems, as well as studying with the Open University with the plan to work with people rather than making things. Between 1994 and 2000, he successfully completed two degrees in Psychology and Social Policy, respectively, as well as two further diplomas in Health and Social Welfare, and Applied Social Science and later attended a Business School, undertaking further studies in Professional Judgement and Decision Making, and Managing Roles and Relationships. This study changed everything and since 1996, he has worked in the Health Field as a Social Worker Advocate, Recovery Worker and, currently, as a Psychotherapist after completing further advanced professional qualifications in Psychotherapy in 2010. Malcolm started MB Counselling Services in 2011 and feels that setting up his own business was the best decision he ever made, apart from marrying his wife only last year. As a relationship expert, Malcolm works at consulting rooms all over Sussex and focuses his expertise and professionalism using an integrative approach which uses many different powerful therapeutic techniques that can be adapted to change, depending on perceived relationship problems.

Malcolm believes there is a book in everyone and had always wanted to write a book himself that helps people to learn from their mistakes and lead fulfilling lives. Malcolm’s philosophy, spirituality and faith, has always been to want to give and help people. So, it was not a surprise when he met Nicola Anne, who became his wife in 2017; a nurse herself for over 25 years, who has given so much to others and shares his values in life. As you will read, like-minded people attract each other and meet people with same beliefs and values.
