This fresh look at Luke’s Gospel is very readable and a way into a critical reading of a first century text. It will be particularly useful for senior secondary students as Samuel’s style is both elegant and accessible. The presentation of the information is also appropriate for students . The use of black boxes around certain information is most appropriate for students who are visual learners. There is not just a block of text, but an attractive and easy reference available to the student reader. Adult readers who wish to come to a deeper understanding of the world in which Luke produced his gospel will be delighted by an exploration of ‘Luke to Theo’.

This book is truly remarkable. I have been able to use it with my Senior Texts and Traditions students, as well as other year levels, who are undertaking Gospel studies. One of the stand out features of this book, is the way it has taken some very complex concepts and made them accessible for both students and teachers. A highly recommended read for anyone wanting to further their knowledge of the literary, social and historical context of the Gospel of Luke.

Extremely well researched and highly successful in its intent to make Luke's text accessible and interesting to the scholar as well as the lay person.
