Lizzy Yardley, a designer of wedding gowns, relocates to a small, picturesque town to cut her business losses caused by family problems. She slogs day and night to stock her wedding boutique in an effort to get back on her feet, but mysterious and dangerous incidents set her back severely and she has no idea why they are happening. She cannot even suggest why to the police. Reluctantly, she has to accept the help of Tony Franklyn, her wealthy, patriarchal landlord who, according to local gossip, is suffering the painful loss of his girlfriend who was recently killed in Paris. Lizzy is not looking for a man, but there is a definite attraction brewing between them. She finds it increasingly more painful to reject him but it would be more so if he discovered her secret, as she has already suffered a broken engagement because of it.

Joan Shirley-Davies lives in Shropshire with her actor husband. She always wanted to be a writer and an actress, as she loves to entertain and communicate with people. Although Joan loved acting, she hated the life, so she wrote plays instead. This book marks her transition from playwright to novelist.

A thoroughly enjoyable read, something for everyone's tastes, Romance, Suspense, Intrigue and a desire to have some of the lifestyle and trappings of Mr Tony Franklyn! A twist in the plot that nobody could have predicted. I look forward to reading future titles by Joan Shirley Davies.

This is perfect beach reading, and my copy still has the sand in between the pages to prove it! Lizzy is a lovely heroine with a strong sense of her own strengths, and who is more than a match for Mr. F and his money. The pace is good and with some fab scenic descriptions too - both of home and glorious Florence. All in all a great first novel, more please, Ms. Shirley-Davies!

For light, enjoyable reading, or a good holiday/travel read, Joan-Shirley Davies' "Money is Easy" has it all.
Set in an English village by a lake, the beautiful Lizzie hides a dark secret in her past which has already broken a relationship and she fears will be exposed.
Tony, the handsome and wealthy co-protagonist is showing interest in Lizzie, but the danger is that he also has a tragic past. Invited to a pre-wedding party in his magnificent mansion, an equally attractive attendee is angling for Tony's love and wealth.
This romance novel is well-written, the dialogue is a realistic and real feature, and the settings are evocatively described. The story is fast-paced and unlikely to disappoint readers of this type of fiction.
