Bought this book for my niece recently. She loved the characters and the pranks they played on the teachers. She is looking forward to the next instalment.

This book was read by my 8yo boy in two nights! Despite the lead character being a girl, he liked the pranks (esp stinkbomb) and liked the book. Enjoyed the odd picture, and liked the evil sister, and enjoyed the trip to Australia. Been re-gifted on the birthday party circuit and enjoyed by mates at school.

This is the story of Daisy Dikdocks, who loves coming up with very humorous, practical pranks which are played out, with the help of a few school friends, on unsuspecting members of the public and her class teacher. It is very amusing, laugh out loud, easy to read a book that flows well. The writer's descriptive style makes it very easy to visualize both the pranks and the various characters, and I particularly loved Daisy and the Principal, Sister Thelma. The question throughout the book is ….Will Daisy be found out? Will the Principal, Sister Thelma, finally outwit the mischievous Daisy? Or, will Daisy and her mates continue to create havoc with their unusual and very funny pranks? This book promises to be very funny, with the telling of numerous delightful escapes by Daisy and her friends.

This children's book has got to be a success. It is full of delicious ways to be naughty while not exactly being bad. What fun!! I know several children who have read this book and all have rated it as excellent.
It would be a great book for a series. Hope there's another one on the way.

  • Karen Lyra

Naughty in Pink is cleverly naughty and fun. My daughters enjoyed the main character Daisy and her cheeky behavior and found it relatable to their school life. Lots of good laughs and looking forward to the next book and adventures. Really great read.

Wow!!! This is a great book for kids. My daughter likes it very much. She is growing up towards a cute naughty girl. We are going to have a lot of fun in life. As Chinese, it is also an excellent book to learn English. Hope it can be translated into Chinese in the future. Looking forward to the next book for kids by the author.

This book has got to be a complete success. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and especially loved the pictures. The pranks played a big part and made me laugh out loud. Also, I think this would be a great book to write a sequel for.

  • Shengxun Sai

I really like the personality of this little pink girl, and you will feel pretty happy to read her story and those innocent ideas are just sooooo funny. Teen and adults would think of their childhood when reading it.

  • Qingfei Wang

We love this book, mainly for its description of a lively and lovely girl. The illustrations were especially lovely, which effectively carries the little girl’s personalities from the page, just like a little girl in our neighbourhood. Reading this book is the same as accompanying my daughter and makes me feel comfortable.

  • Kunfeng Qiu

I have just finished reading the book. It is a fantastic journey to go with the authors to meet the amazing world. I look forward to seeing my little son will be able to understand and listen to my reading in a short future.

The story and journal in the book itself indeed are pretty good, and if I were the authors, I would put more pictures that will be much easier for the young kids. By the way, is there any way that we could get a Chinese version for this copy?

  • Daniel Müller

This book is really funny, not only for kids! I rarely laughed so much while reading this book. The main character appears to be so real and she reminds me of a friend from my school years. I have bought a copy for my little nephew, too.

  • Kate Groves - age 12

Pretty in Pink was written by my grandfather, and Daisy's appearance, and maybe a couple of the stories in the book are based on me, my brother Josh and my imaginary friend Murray!
The story is fun, full of laughs and practical jokes. It reminds me of when Dogly (our name for our Grandfather) used to tell us stories of Daisy Dikdocks silly antics. We would laugh for hours staying up late listening to her adventures.
We have bought some copies of the book to give to my friends and I hope you do too, because it lots of fun, a little bit naughty and a very good read. I hope the next edition of Daisy's adventures comes out soon!!

  • Fiona Bonella

A funny and entertaining story perfect for primary school children.
Highly recommended to read aloud to younger children or for them to read themselves.
Everyone will get a giggle out of this one.

  • Anne Buchanan

I loved this story. The original telling of the adventures of Daisy Dikdocks kept my children entertained for hours. Great to see it in print!

  • Matthew

What a fantastic children's book! Reminds me of the stories my grandfather used to tell me when I was young! Very well written and well illustrated, we need more children's books like this.

  • Lingling Yang

As a mother of a 6-year-old girl named Elly, who has the honor to be a character of this story, I really enjoyed all the naughty things that Daisy did in this book. I couldn’t help myself laughing when reading the book to Elly, and she is thrilled to be a character in the book and likes it so much. It takes love and childlike hearts to note down the daily behavior of girls and, more importantly, the writer must have the mind of a naughty kid inside him to think of all these funny stories. I think that Professor David Groves fits this description of an observant and amusing writer very well.

  • Anne & Seb (Geelong, Vic.)

The Author, David Groves, gave me a signed copy of this book for my grandson Seb. (9 years).
Seb could relate to the 'naughty' antics of Pink and he was hoping to share it with his class friends.
It is an entertaining book and children will be engrossed in laugh out loud scenarios.

  • Jil Fair

Written for Children - well illustrated - Many children can relate to the naughty attitude and pranks of Pink..
A great read and from an ex teacher well recommended

  • Isabella (Australian 10 year old living in Kent, UK)

Best book ever (and I'm a Book Worm)! It reflects some girls colours (literally). I think everyone should read it. It's funny and I'm going to wear pink from now on.

  • Antonia (Australian 8 year old living in Kent, UK)

I think that the tricks the children do are really clever and hilarious. I love how Daisy always gets away with things with her innocent face. (Just like me??? says Dad)

    Naughty in Pink

This is a children's book aimed at late primary school age groups. It is not the author's normal demographic but it obviously draws inspiration from his own schooldays.

The storyline is of a small gang of easily -influenced children led by a precocious girl Daisy (favourite colour pink) whose father is mostly away in the Army. Arriving at a Catholic school with a reputation for discipline, Daisy accepts the challenge, aided by her gang The Demons, of making life difficult for her teacher by playing a series of tricks in the school room or on class outings.

This means frequent trips for Daisy to the Principal's room to pit wits with a tolerant Sister Thelma whose ultimate deterrent (alas never deployed) is a large bottle of slime. Stretching credibility, Daisy and gang avoid telling a lie or being caught red-handed.

Sister Thelma eventually decides that although she is naughty, deep down Daisy has a kind heart. However, damage is inflicted
on their class teacher Miss Poppy who is apparently asked to leave the School.

The book may appeal to some high-spirited youngsters but understandably not to their teachers or parents.

    Novel Naughty in Pink
My granddaughters from Switzerland gave me a book by David Groves called Naughty in Pink. It contains plenty of stories of fun and tricks of schoolgirls that I so far didn´t know. I have read lots of similar funny stories, but most especially only about schoolboys. Nowadays I understand how even the schoolgirls’ gang of DEMONS is able to be naughty to all school staff except those that are kind. The novel Naughty in Pink is a delight to read and is written in clear English for the entertainment of children and even for grown-ups to recall the amusing pranks from their schooldays. In my country, Czech Republic, this novel could become very attractive for schoolchildren and popular for teachers of English in our schools.

My children are french-speaking and begin to learn English at school. This book "Naughty in Pink" is wonderfully nicely written, easy to read and understandable instinctively. The situations and details are explicit and help the beginners to get the meaning, and, by the time, discover new vocabulary. Furthermore, the short stories are really funny and let the reader spend a nice time in a playful mind.
To recommand to English teachers for beginners.

  • Seraphina & Christiana love this book!

A review by two sisters - I love how the story was set in England and Australia, the creativity of the "pinkitis", an affliction I would dearly love to suffer from!!!

Great humour, and illustrations; it's hilarious when the teachers start scratching in front of the whole class. Pink is very difficult when it's not the school uniform colour. Daisy is very clever and thinks of great plots. The "Lemur Affair" is one of the best parts of the book.

Wickedly comical throughout. We hope the author becomes as prolific as End Bylton; we want more!!!!!!!!

  • Chelsea Reid

Naughty in Pink, an enjoyable and entertaining read. A story I can’t wait to read together with my daughter who I am sure will chuckle along too. Very well written and a book I will be sharing and telling others about.

  • Matthew Baggott

A fun read and great Christmas present for my late-primary school-aged daughter. I suspect that she will like to see much of Daisy in herself. Would definitely recommend for kids of similar age.

  • Stuart

  • John Pronk

My granddaughter Olivia identifies very strongly with Olivia, one of the naughty characters in Naughty in Pink.
She would like to be the girl on the book cover. She thinks the book is very funny with lots of naughty pranks she wouldn't dare to get up to.
She has even taken the book to school to show her teacher.

  • Jimmy

I really enjoyed this book and laughed a lot. Daisy carried out the type of pranks that I would have loved to do but did not dare because I also had a strict principal. I really hope there is a sequel and I can read more about the adventures of Daisy and her gang.

Even classified as a child book this is really enjoyable reading for adults as well. At least if you remember your younghood pranks, or plans to do few. Although for a Finnish reader the private school background is totally absurd it is funny to notice that many aspects of school are quite universal. It is an interesting twist that the main character is a nice girl this creates a fascinating contrast to her doings.

  • Elisabeth

An absolutely enchanting tale of a young girl with the most amazing mischievous sense of humour. The book is beautifully written and guaranteed to entertain. I eagerly look forward to reading David Groves' next story. I highly recommend this book as a stocking filler this Christmas.
