Sheryl Lorenz lives in South Gippsland in Victoria, Australia, with her husband and spoilt dog, Sparky. She loves the beach, the bush and the gorgeous Australian animals that abound in her area. She loves to spend time with family and enjoys telling stories to her grandchildren. When asked by her granddaughter why a local creek was called Old Hat Creek, the story began.

Through a charming, classical Australian style of writing, Sheryl Lorenz's lovely story takes the reader on an enjoyable journey, giving snippets of knowledge about Australian animals, while gently offering the message of the true value of the wisdom and love that grandparents or any of the older generation can share through story-telling.
What an adventure! Getting to know the Australian animals along the way, I felt I was a part of the journey. I am looking forward to the next book from this author.
I live near Old Hat Creek and this delightful story has given it new meaning. Before, it was just a name but now when I drive past I have a lovely picture in my head.
