Book Description

Life seemed idyllic for the glamorous couple, a big house in the country, a successful career and a loving husband and child, what could be more perfect? Everyone wanted her life.

But behind closed doors it was a very different matter. With slow realisation, she realised she had married a monster. With no one and nowhere to turn to, would she survive?

M.C. Fox, born in Edinburgh and raised in the scenic Scottish Borders, has had a diverse and inspiring journey. She built a successful career as a general manager for a prominent retail company and contributed as a writer for a well-known sporting magazine. After her marriage ended, she completed her degree with the Open University, before continuing higher education, earning a postgraduate degree with master’s credits in Primary Education with the UHI.

M.C. Fox’s achievements include being honoured as a Commonwealth Baton Bearer and serving as a poster representative for the Edinburgh Marathon. She currently resides in the Scottish Borders, where she finds joy in teaching at a local primary school. As a devoted single mother, she cherishes her time with her daughter.

Perfectly Woven Lies is her captivating debut novel, marking her first step into the world of fiction writing.

I COULDN’T PUT THIS BOOK DOWN—and not just because of the twists. It was the way the Isla’s quiet strength gripped me, page after page. You don’t just read Perfectly Woven Lies, you live through it with her. Every betrayal cut deep, but the resilience stitched together something unforgettable. It’s raw, tense, and beautifully human. I didn’t expect to cry, but I did. I told my friends to read it immediately!

This book is excellent. MC Fox is certainly a fantastic wordsmith. The book has so many intricate and intriging elements that intertwine perfectly. The detail within each page make you want to read it again to make sure you've not missed anything and throughout the book you are gripped particularly by the control and jealously from James and the determination, resolution and motherly love from Isla. I imagine many will cheer at the end. Brilliant book MC Fox

The must read of the year!! Perfectly Woven Lies isn't just a book, it's a lifeline. If you have ever felt trapped, invisible or silenced, Isla's story will crack open something in you and fill you with purpose. This isn't about revenge. It's about survival. It's the real deal behind closed doors. About the why not the what. About reclaiming your voice in a world that tried to erase it. You must read this because it proves you are not broken, you are rebuilding. And that's power! Absolutely gripping 10/10!

Wow Maureen Fox what a debut novel . I was gripped from the first couple of chapters , loved the way i soon couldn't wait to read the next page just needing to know what happened . Isla such a likeable character you feel every emotion with her rooting for her and of course Sophie and loyal pooch Lola right through the book . The emotions rise and fall with the book hating what James is doing to Isla. Like all good books this one has left me with questions and wanting more. Fantastic book highly recommend

What a gripping debut novel. Once you start this book you just can't stop. The tension builds so well. The characters are incredibly well written...seeing the story from both sides is fascinating although sometimes harrowing too. I like how the author captures what life is like in the Scottish Borders, from the beautiful scenery to the insidious cliques that exist. This is a thrill a minute book that I highly recommend.
