Anna doesn't have the easiest start in life nor a happy relationship with her mother. She grows into a very beautiful, successful, but lonely young businesswoman.

She meets an equally successful businessman who sweeps her off her feet. However, he controls her life completely and, as time passes, her life becomes increasingly traumatic and ultimately in danger. How can she escape, and will she ever find the peace and happiness she craves?

Gillian is an English woman living in rural Australia with her husband and cattle dog Jess. She loves writing and also enjoys gardening, cooking, horse-riding and singing amongst other interests. She has travelled widely in Australia and meeting people and hearing their stories.

She has three children and four grandchildren living in England, France and Australia. She loves to spend time with them as much as distances and time allow.

Reading "Possession" was, for me, a very absorbing and enjoyable experience. It was also a "remembering" experience. Also, I have no doubt it will be a remembering experience for many other women as they read this powerful second novel. We are women who have at some time in our lives been made fearful, humiliated and controlled by a male partner or husband, someone we loved and who we believed loved us. Gillian has taken us powerfully into the life of Anna from the very moment of her birth through her troubled childhood to her first tentative romantic relationship to becoming a high-achieving business-woman. Finally, everything is coming up roses for Anna and she meets Karl, a man who is equally successful in business and charming and handsome to boot. He knows what he wants in life and love. He wants Anna!
Gillian has written another terrific story about families, love, and relationships and how it is possible to feel like an outsider and misunderstood by those nearest to us. As with Gillian's first novel, there is never a dull moment as the characters, their actions and circumstances are engaging and intriguing us on every page.
In summary, I found "Possession" to be enthralling, thought-provoking and memorable. I highly recommend it to other readers.

Another brilliant read by Gillian Wells. I found Possession to be intriguing and thought provoking. Anna seems to have found all that she wished for when she meets Karl. They embark on a passionate life together which becomes all consuming and ultimately dangerous. It makes compelling reading and another great page turner with unexpected little twists and turns, just when you think you know what is going to happen. I would highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next one!

Anna's unhappy adolescence and a difficult mother/daughter relationship see her leave an idyllic country life for an unusual job opportunity in London achieving unexpected success in a challenging business. Poised, beautiful, admired but alone and unable to find friendship and love. Powerful, wealthy businessman Karl sweeps her off her feet but takes total control of her life.
Gillian skilfully pens Anna's disintegration through horrific abuse. Trapped and blackmailed somehow she must escape. The story races to a surprising end via Port Douglas in Far North Queensland. Gillian writes of friendship, love and loyalty; an intriguing English story with a glimpse of life "down under".
Good reading again Gillian, I applaud your support for women who have suffered abuse.

Possession by Gillian Wells is an absorbing, emotionally-charged journey through one woman's turbulent relationship and her ultimate pathway to a better life. This is a real page-turner - expect not to be able to put this book down once you have started. Gillian is a gifted storyteller, and she keeps the story moving along so that the reader becomes absorbed in this engaging and tear-jerking story.
