Amelia is 49, fast approaching 50, single, long-term dateless and constantly brooding over a lost love of 25 years ago. She passes the years fantasising over Gary Guzzler, an aging rock star, whom she has loved and idolised since she was a teenager, and who has begun touring again after a long hiatus. She is forever daydreaming about meeting Gary and falling in love.

Laura, Amelia’s friend and total nymphomaniac, wants her to get over her lost love and unhealthy fascination with Gary Guzzler, so suggests she have a go at online dating because it is “cheaper than Botox, liposuction or counselling.” To get her started, Laura treats Amelia to a three-month online dating subscription for her 50th birthday.

It is only for three months. What could possibly go wrong? Will she meet her dream man, or forever remain within her dreams?

I am not an avid reader, so this book would have had to keep my attention and it did not disappoint . Right from the word go I could not put it down. The characters are extremely relatable, it challenged my thinking, had humour threaded throughout and I imersed myself in an adventure I did not see coming. Highly recommend this book.

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book and being a single woman myself who has experienced lots of twists and turns in life, particularly in the dating world I couldnt wait to read about Amelia's adventures in the world of internet dating. I read the book in one sitting (I couldn't put it down) and found it very funny, although its bitter sweet in parts. I came to the end of the book and was dying to know what happened next in Amelia's life. This book is for people who have lived a little and are ready for a wild ride. I can't wait for the next instalment.

Well written, inventive, and damn funny. The characters are believable and well-developed (did I mention funny?) but the story still gallops along without digression. Small New Zealand references make the story unique (eg Tea and Scones offered - to the Door-to-Door salesperson!) and then it is back to a wild chase to find "Mr Right" ... or maybe just not Mr Left. The book is intelligently written, has a good flow, an insightful story - but I mostly remember the characters and humour.
