Book Description

What brings a father and son to want to fight on opposing sides in a civil war? What causes brothers to find themselves firing muskets at each other? Why did some of the early supporters of Parliament’s cause in the early part of the 1640s change sides to a growingly disliked King Charles in the second half of the decade? What drove ‘the Rump Parliament’?

Malcolm D R Buck is a retired solicitor and this debut book reflects his penchant for history and politics, nurtured at Esher Grammar School. From speaking at a National Political Party’s Conference in 1981 to representing people throughout his professional career, Malcolm’s ethos has always been to be judged as if he were a recipient of his services. He has been married for over thirty years and his wife, Tina, and postgraduate daughter, Alice, remain the rocks which have held back the tidal vicissitudes of life. His other loves are Somerset County Cricket Club and Bath City Football Club. Malcolm is a National Trust Room Guide.
