Book Description

What will today bring on the Isles of Scilly for the boat buddies?

Scilly Adventures is about a group of brave boats helping the islands and the people on them.

The boat buddies work as a team, led by Mary. They all listen to, trust, respect and understand Mary. She is the driving force behind the boat buddies, making sure they are in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing.

By pulling together they save the day time after time.

How will they solve today’s excitement? So much to organise to keep people safe and save the church tower.

Go Boat Buddies…

On visiting the Isles of Scilly for the first time, over 12 years ago now, the islands offered great comfort and peace to J. L. Wills. Being a family person first and foremost, these stories were devised and read to the children as they grew up.

Scilly Adventures is the work of an author who loves the world of children’s fiction and how they can use their imagination to grow and love reading fantastic tales.

My name is Abbie. I am a nanny to two boys ages 8 years & 6 years. I read them the book last night; they absolutely loved it! The 8 year old said he loved how dramatic the book was when the church was on fire and all of the boats were trying to help! He also added that he likes how the boats helped save the Church, (and wished boats could do that in real life!) and said how fun it was to listen to! He is so excited to see what the next book will be like! The 6 year old said he liked how colourful the pictures were and how the boats had cool names and were being silly at the start of the book with one shouting “crocodile”, the first page made him laugh so much! He loved how the boats were helping the firefighters! I personally loved the representation of the island. I love the thought of an island with minimal noise, slow pace, the moon lighting it up at night and the fact it’s car-free! The description of the beaches and sea sounds so dreamy. I loved the fact that you can cycle along the perimeter in just over 2 hours! The one thing I loved the most about this incredible book, was how, even though the boats were exhausted, they couldn’t bear the thought of a disaster on the island. This book is not only fun and entertaining, but a great lesson for children to learn! I absolutely cannot wait to read them the next book. I asked them what they thought they’d rate it, the 8 year old said he’d rate it a 100/100 and the 6 year old agreed! The boys now want to go to Scilly to see the church and ride on the boats!
