If you want to know how real-life lawyers behave, using deceit, lies, and other dastardly methods to try to beat the individual litigant then read on…

Gillian lays bare some of the tricks that she has discovered that some solicitors and employers have used, details how she found them out, and how she won.

Gillian Howard is an employment lawyer, broadcaster, and author, known as ‘The Rottweiler with a Handbag’ because of her fearsome reputation. She has been described as having nerves of tungsten or titanium. She never gives up for her clients and stands up to bullies, racists, sexists, and anyone professing hatred for minority groups and discriminatory views.

She has been instructed by several clients who were ‘on the other side’ and who do not want to find themselves up against her again.

I suffer from Dyslexia and have an issue with keeping an interest when reading books or any long pieces of literature i.e. reports. However, I have just started reading this book and cannot put it down. Working in the police force I have seen precisely what is written in this book. I think it is an absolutely brilliant read, and although I know it will, I hope the chapters will never end.

I have just finished reading this book which I could not put down. As a retired lawyer I found the content totally absorbing, true and a reflection on the obvious legal talents of the writer.

The chapters were written with humour, compassion and honesty and revealed the total commitment that the author has with her clients and their legal problems. She totally commits to each client and has a particular flair for defending women and anyone who have been bullied, harassed or discriminated against in the workplace.

She is obviously passionate and caring and has stood up over the years to the bullies and cowards, cheats and liars on the other side.

I was particularly impressed by the fact that in many of the cases in the book, the writer was faced with powerful and international law firms and she got the better of them on every occasion.

It is a testament to her ability and charm that several employers who were sued by her, subsequently asked her to act for them, saying they never wanted her on the other side again!

A brilliant read and I hope she writes another book about more of her cases.

Secrets and Lies reveal what is "said on the tin" with dozens of saucy tales of unscrupulous employers, managers and employees getting their comeuppance in court when they encountered the "Rottweiler with a handbag" that is Gillian Howard. The book is wonderfully written and full of humour, but also with the clear message that every underdog deserves to be represented and no stone left unturned for justice to be served. The reader feels that you couldn't have a better representative than Gillian Howard and if you have any interest in the law you couldn't have a better read! Essential reading!

Honestly couldn't put this book down - it's absolutely fascinating, hilarious and shocking. Finished it in just one weekend because it was so gripping.

Gillian Howard (the author who is one of the UK's top Employment Lawyers) exposes the shocking stories of some of her most interesting cases from winning multi-million pound settlements for a female client who was raped by her boss to defending a hapless young lad caught up in a case at Magistrates Court....each "Tale" in each chapter seems more outlandish than the last but they're all true stories.

If you enjoyed reading "The Secret Barrister" then you'll love this even more - it's perfect for a holiday read by the pool.

    Highly recommended
