The King is very ill. Only a potion made from the rarest blue flower in the world can save him. But the flower grows in the mountains guarded by a fearsome dragon belching fire and smoke. There is just one man brave enough to try to get the flower. Send for Sir John!

Peter Gorty is a retired solicitor and restaurateur. He lives in Surrey and Yorkshire. He rewrote this story for his grandchildren, Jamie and Lauren, inspired by the memory of the enjoyment he got as a child from the stories his father created for him.

This is a lovely book. My son and daughter, aged 7 and 5, ask for it to be read to them over and over again. They get caught up in the drama of the rescue mission - and laugh their heads off when (spoiler alert) Sir John grabs the garden hose! Highly recommend.

A lovely, refreshing book with superb illustrations which really bring the story to life. The use of rhyming couplets felt rather strange at first but it did not take long to get into the rhythm of the story and it soon felt very natural. (Some of the rhymes are really clever.) There are no deep meanings in the story and it is very satisfying as a simple fairy tale but the ending is a surprise. It builds up to what you expect to be a classic ending but then comes the twist. All in all a novel fairy tale. I loved it.

Lovely book beautifully illustrated. Fun to read for both children and adults. Highly recommended
