No one could tell a tale like Papa, not even Pinocchio…

He told Daniel of his fights with lions, tigers and even a great white shark; he had even captured the Loch Ness Monster before letting it go again…

Papa claimed to have climbed Mount Everest barefoot and had slurped tea with the queen of England. He had done it all, an undercover agent for the FBI, a champion rodeo rider and he had even swum across the Atlantic Ocean in just one day…

Daniel had heard most of Papa’s claims before, but now he was ready to be part of the next weird adventure…

The feisty twelve-year-old was born with the gift of intrigue, willing and keen to search out trouble wherever and whenever he could, and once the trouble had been discovered, he would always blame Papa...

This first chronicle of adventures of Daniel and Papa includes four very different adventures of suspense and mystery; but no matter where they go, trouble is never far away…

Fasten your seat belt and join Daniel and his best friend, Papa, on their ‘Strange Trips and Weird Adventures’.

John Walker Pattison was born in the wonderful seaside town of South Shields 64 years ago.

He is a long-suffering but dedicated Newcastle United supporter; however, there is little doubt that the crucial hinge in John’s life is his beautiful wife, June, and his family. “Nothing is more important than family,” says John.

He recently retired from his post as a senior clinical nurse specialist in haematology at his local hospital, a place that established his cancer diagnosis in 1975; he is humbled to be one of the longest living cancer survivors in the UK at 46 years post diagnosis.

His interests include Native American photography and exploring parts of America unseen by tourists.

  • Francis.

A great book, nicely written and fantastic illustrations. Bought for a ten year old yet, my fourteen year old has now read it three times. Funny and exciting, exactly what young children want to read. I read it before the kids and I loved the love that was obvious between Daniel and Papa. Definitely recommended.

Bought the book for my Niece to help her reading and knowing the author I thought it would be good. I have read it and think its a great innocent read where nowadays they don't read about stories and explore their imagination.
It was like taking myself back to the innocent days of our youth when we had no blocks to our imagination. She loves the book and has told her friends about it. SHE really enjoys it and we've had some great evenings talking shout the book and the adventures.

Well written. My friends grandson loves it. He finds some of the names funny. Is excited to hear the adventures.
Only criticism is the blue pages. It’s not great for some disabilities. Can’t wait for next episode though.

Recently I read an adventurous story “Strange Trips and Weird Adventures” penned by the author John Walker Pattison. The main characters of the story are a twelve years old boy Daniel and his sixty-four years young Grandpa whom Daniel warmly calls Papa. Daniel knows his Papa has so much knowledge and he has heard many brave stories about his Papa’s adventures.

Daniel’s Papa told him that once he went to the moon and brought cheese for his grandma. To show Daniel that the moon is made of cheese, Daniel and his Papa made a rocket using which they made a safe landing on the moon and had a great adventure there.

This book has four adventurous stories that little readers are gonna love. Grandkids’ bond with Grandparents is the most special. I enjoyed reading this story to my little nephew. The plot of the stories is interesting and the cover photo of the book is nice. John had done a wonderful job in this book. I appreciate his amazing storytelling skills. I am interested to read more of his work in the future.

We bought this for our 5 years old grandson, knowing it was probably just outside his age range. He initially said there were not enough pictures in it for him, however, over several nights we read him the stories and it must have captured his interest as we began building cardboard submarines or rockets to set off on our adventures. As an adult reading it, we could so relate to the grandchild/grandparent bond and the stories we would make up to occupy him during his visits.
Very much looking forward to the next publication to find out what Daniel and Grandpa get up to next.
