This book is Ian Falkner's masterpiece, a refreshing strolling adventure through three counties. Three people and a dog go on a short walk around the countryside of Edenbridge. Later, they penetrate into the depths of Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The author's words help paint a vivid picture in the mind's eye and ignite the reader's imagination. This book points out some of the most interesting landmarks and viewpoints that he and his friends come across. With information about routes, historical contexts, roads and path names, this gift of a magical and unforgettable tour acts as a useful guide for those who have the spirit of an adventurer and the attitude of an explorer.
Ian Falkner is a member of the Ramblers' Association. He's been leading a local rambling group in Kent for over 28 years. As a member of the local historical society, he has developed a keen interest in those parts of Kent, Surrey and Sussex where he has walked… and would like to pass on such information that he has gleaned from his research to a wider audience.

This book meets the prime requirement of a walking guide by making the instructions about the routes very clear and unambiguous. The walks themselves provide pleasant and interesting experiences engaging with the very pretty countryside with which the author is obviously intimately aquainted. It has been an especially useful tool during lock-down when rambling has become a solitary activity. Especially appealing are the comments about places and points of interest - historical, scientific or architectural. Most walking guides seem to assume that ramblers merely want to walk the route and go home: this one introduces you to the fascinations of the country and communities you are being part of. The photographs are excellent and make the reader want to get out and see the attractions. Patrick & Gilly McCauley.

This is a very useful and personal account of the walks local to west kent and the surrounding countryside. Full of interesting facts and anecdotes and a good companion to enjoy. Used often by the local walking group Edenbridge Strollers and a foil to all the stuffy formal books before. Highly recommended.

A great read to discover more about the local areas and points of interest. Some amazing photographs of hidden treasures.
