Tattoo is a real life Russian Blue female feline who lives full-time with the author aboard their 44ft sailing vessel moored in Woolooware Bay, NSW, Australia. For over six years, this courageous crew of two have learned to adapt to a totally new way of life, becoming one with their environment, learning to love and respect the sea with all the joys and perils it brings. They are governed by the wind as their lives literally come in and out on it and on the tides. This writing gives a unique insight into a life lived in the sea as seen through the eyes of Tattoo, one very special ship’s cat.

Rachel Alexandra is first and foremost a lover of life.

A veteran healthcare worker of 26 years (and counting!) Rachel loves giving back. Described as a ‘tiny cog’ in the giant wheel of healthcare – to learn of the recovery of patients gives Rachel a great feeling of satisfaction.

In writing this book, Rachel hopes to bring a smile to the smallest of faces; even if it’s only one, that smile will be one of her greatest achievements.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. There are lots of interesting characters brought to life by very descriptive writing that created brilliant word pictures, supported by the graphics themselves. There is a speed in the story that draws you on to the next page. The values of friendship and trust between Tattoo and the pelican Spike gives us a re-assurance that life is good and we are safe in our own homes. My wife who is responsible for the love of reading in our young ones, described it as an interesting, happy story that will appeal to parents reading to their young children. Older children in the 6-9 years age group will also enjoy reading Tattoos Tale for themselves . I think we can look forward to more of Tattoo`s stories from Rachel Alexandra.
