Over the horizon, just where the sun sets, is the island of Gillyford. On the island sits a quiet little village called Tumbledown. The people of Tumbledown are a happy folk. Everywhere you go, from the little red school-house all the way to the brightly coloured houses on the seashore, you will see people smiling, laughing and living happily together. Whenever they need someone to help them, they know just where to turn: Henrietta Hedgekin.

Henrietta is a witch, but not like the ones you will find in fairy tales. With her big bushy, curly red hair and her sparkling blue eyes, no one who did not live on Gillyford would even suspect that Henrietta was a witch. Every day is an adventure for Henrietta and her young friends, Ben and Tilly as they learn about the world and help people along the way.

James B. Angell is an author from the island of Guernsey where he lives with his partner Katie and their two dogs, Jasper and Monty. When not working as an electronics quality engineer and IPC trainer, he enjoys spending time getting back to nature and collecting vintage toys. He has a passion for both learning and teaching which led to the creation of the Henrietta Hedgekin series of children’s books.

What a magnificent and enchanting story. The descriptions pull you into the moment and the characters are magical and charming. The story conveys a lovely message of friendship in a way that eases young minds and is a lovely lesson. I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author.
